The thirteenth breed in our dog of the day series is the Curly-Coated Retriever!
The Curly-Coated Retriever is known for its truly unique coat of small water-resistant curls. Both energetic and intelligent, this breed is a multi-purpose hunting retriever that descended from the 16th-century English Water Spaniel, the St. John’s Newfoundland, the Retrieving Setter and the Poodle.
They were originally bred in England, where they hunted waterfowl and game on land. The Curly-Coated Retriever was first exhibited in 1860 in England and came to the US in the early 1900s.
