The twelfth breed in our dog of the day series is the Weimaraner!
Weimaraners are German hunting dogs that were initially known as the Weimer Pointer (or the colloquial “gray ghost”). They were originally used to hunt big game like wolves, deer and bears. This intelligent and friendly breed is fast, strong and graceful, whether on the hunt or at home, where it’s happy to be a part of the family.
President Eisenhower had a Weimaraner named Heidi that lived in the White House with the First Family!
